Some New Fabric...

Yesterday, I went to the fabric store and purchased some new fabric. I love adding to my fabric pile. Now just to find the time to sew! The material is from a chain store...I have to find the best deals wherever possible. The flannel is this picture was on sale for 2.49/yard...hopfully it can become a quilt (probably a rag quilt).

Then I picked up this peice of fleece in the remnants bin. Its cozy and springy. I want to make the girls pillows for Easter with it.

While I was picking out the flannel, Liz was 'playing' with the fabric quarters at the end of the isle. We later went past the clearance section and she started straightening a couple of fabric quarters. I saw that they were only $0.97 and told her she could get two and I'd make her a pillowcase dress off of the Moda Bake Shop site. When I got home I looked at the receipt and realized what a great deal Liz had picked out...they were further reduced to $0.67 each. But I think that she is going to get a skirt out of them instead...she's too tall for the dress to be long enough with just fabric quarters.

Then along with these great deals, I had a 20% of the total purchase coupon.
I love sales!

And we know that all things
work together for good to them that love God,
to them who are the called according to his purpose.

The recital...

Everyone did very well. I did make a few mistakes, but nothing extremely noticeable. Also, even with being sick this week, I was able to finish my skirt for the recital, and a matching jewelery set.
The skirt is an ankle length A-line without any slits. I made it out of 2 yards of fabric, without a pattern. The trouble with not using patterns are usually in the waist, unless it is an elastic waist! But no one wants all their skirts to be elastic.

It had been a while since I had made some jewelery, almost forgot how much I like doing it...and then wearing it!

O come, let us sing unto the LORD:
let us make a joyful noise
to the rock of our salvation.

Have a great weekend -- attend church on Sunday :) !

I hate ants...

However, I made one for Liz for her birthday, to go along with our living room picnic. She turn 3 on Friday.
This ant is a little on the cute side...

To a little more serious topic.
My brother-in-law, Carlos Santos-Silva, passed away one year ago today fighting in Afganastan. He was a Sgt. First Class and there is a article about him in the March 2011 Readers Digest. So I hoping to make a quilt square for the Just One Star challenge. I'll show you my progress once I get started. I'm falling a little behind from being sick yesterday and today...but hopefully all will be well soon.

Thursday, I will be playing Rejoice in the Lord, written by Ron Hamilton, at my piano recital...yes, I'm an adult that takes lessons, I started playing four years ago.

The words to this song are wonderful and the story behind the writting of the song even more amazing. You can hear the story about Ron Hamilton, aka. Patch the Pirate and listen to the song if you link by clicking his name above.

Let all those that seek thee rejoice and be glad glad in thee:
let such as love thy salvation say continually,
the LORD be magnified.

The Very First Post...

This is the very first post for my blog and I'm not quite sure what to begin with other than to say what a learning process this will be.

First, I'd like to show a picture of my beautiful family.
This is my loving husband Chad, my oldest daughter Lizzy, and Amber, the baby. Liz will be turning 3 tomorrow and Amber will be 4 months old on Saturday.

Now I'd like to show you what I made for Liz's birthday present. It is a Bible case. She received the Bible for Christmas and so now it has a cover. The idea came from seeing the stuff on Moda Bake Shop.

Maybe someday I'll be able to make up tutorials for some of my projects...

Amber during the crafting of Liz's gift...isn't she adorable, but then again, I am partial!

It was snowy here in Northwestern PA and so Chad took Liz out to finally bulid a snowman...most of the snow this year didn't pack well. But this past snow (hopefully the last) was packable, so last Friday they bulit him...
But today, less than a week later, he's only 1/4the snowman he was and grass is the only thing in sight.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!
I hope you enjoyed the first post and will vist again soon.
